Collecting the Men of the West
Well, the greatest armies on the good side are undoubtly men. I've been collecting Rohan and Gondor models for some time now, and here's an overview of some of the models I have collected.
The Men of the West:
Lets start with the Kingdom of Rohan:
First of all there are the basic troops: Warriors of Rohan and Riders of Rohan. Infantry I got 2 boxes of 24 each (48 in total), while cavalry I got 3 boxes of 6 each (however I used two to convert them into legolas and aragorn, so 22 in total). Three royal guards I use as my elites.
As for heroes, I got Theoden, Eomer, Erkenbrand and Gamling mounted, as well as Hama and Grimbold on foot.

The Riders of Rohan
Rohan Royal Guards
Eomer, Theoden and Erkenbrand
Grimbold
My Rohan army
Here are some themed armies for Rohan:
Defenders of the Deepening Wall
Gandalf's reinforcements (according to JRR Tolkien)
Gandalf's reinforcements (according to the movie)
Theoden's Last Ride
Next, I started collecting Gondor. I began by buying 34 warriors of Minas Tirith (cheaply from ebay) and I had 16 warriors of Numenor from my boxes of the Last Alliance which I repainted to represent the wardens of Pelargir. I then bought a box of Knights of Minas Tirith (6), a box of Rangers (24) and the Army of the Dead (20).
Heroes, I've got: Faramir, Halbarad and Aragorn to lead my rangers and Boromir to lead my warriors. I also bought a captain of Gondor and a banner bearer. The King of the dead I bought to lead my dead
The Army of the Dead
Gondor was the main enemy of Sauron, and the gondorians fought many battles against his minions, with the help of ther allies the Rohirrim and the Dunedain of the North.
Warriors of Osgiliath
Passing of the Grey Company
Defenders of Minas Tirith
Pelennor Fields
The Black Gate
